Nick Xenophon Team pips Liberal Party to form South Australian Government

The Australian Olympic Committee was mocked by the Australian Federal Parliament for its fragmented presentations in the House of Representatives after it failed to pass a resolution on expenses and social media following a motion by junior member Steve Ciobo.

In his unsuccessful vote in the House on Tuesday, an emotional Ciobo cited the AOC’s reaction to the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil when it had to apologise to athletes and fans after using social media in a way that broke anti-spam legislation.

Australia’s Rugby Union Association and Cricket Australia have been criticised for the use of similar social media functions, including publicising its financial-reporting to the financial secretary.

At a party room meeting before the vote, a motion was moved by Sen. Ciobo to suspend standing orders to allow a full debate on the AOC executive’s failure to vote with the membership and the leadership of the AOC in the resolution on expenses and social media.
