WATCH: 'I thought someone was coming to kill me'

An accidental discharge during a training exercise by an employee in Atlanta’s airport sent some travelers fleeing and others crouching in fear Tuesday.

A federal source told CNN that three people were injured in the incident.

The source said the condition of the people injured was not immediately known.

The airport had canceled all flights bound for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport until about 4 p.m. and issued a “See Something, Say Something” alert.

What happened?

Passengers reported a loud noise during a drill conducted by Transportation Security Administration workers at Terminal B shortly before 2 p.m.

CNN affiliate WSB-TV reported that people in the terminal ran from the departures area after a noise prompted passengers to evacuate the area.

There were indications someone was shot in the chest, the station reported.

But a senior federal law enforcement official who saw a Fox 5 Atlanta video showed that shots were fired inside the terminal, and at least one person was shot in the leg.

Contractor: No shooter

Authorities said no shooter was involved. Several passengers were transported to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport medical center.

The contractor that had scheduled the drill issued a statement that said, “TSA is conducting a drill with an airport contractor at the gate exit of Terminal B. There was an incident which lead to paramedics being dispatched. Law enforcement was on-scene within four minutes. The contractor does not believe that there was any physical altercation or shooter at that point.”

The shooting was isolated in the portion of the terminal where the TSA exercise was being conducted, according to a statement from airport police.
